Next week newly declared Riga residents will start receiving free one-month public transport tickets
It’s planned that on Tuesday, January 28, Riga City Council will consider amendments to the municipal contract with „Rīgas satiksme”, which will allow the company to start the issue of free one-month tickets to those individuals having declared their residence in Riga in the period of September 25- December 31, 2013. Today the amendments were approved by the Committee for Communication and Transport of Riga City Council.
So next week those Riga residents having declared their residence in the capital city in the period of September 25 - December 31, 2013 will start receiving free one-time one-month tickets to be used in public transport of „Rīgas satiksme”.
„Rīgas satiksme” informs that those persons having changed their residence in other municipalities to Riga in the period of September 25 - December 31, 2013 will receive an e-mail or SMS informing that a free one-month ticket is now available on the person’s „Riga resident’s card”. The above month ticket needs to be activated by a validator installed in a public transport vehicle and will become valid unless another one-month ticket is loaded into the card.
As reported earlier, some 10,000 persons declared their residence in Riga in the last three months of the year during campaign „Become a Riga resident!” („Esi rīdzinieks!”) launched by Riga City Council.
